Confessions?? Or just plain CRAP??

Was engaging in a chat with a colleague not too long ago while waiting for a meeting to start.

Somehow the topic of our conversation drifted to what we would both do the moment we are not obliged to serve the government any longer.

We are both relatively new to the organisation, having worked in it for under 2 years and having many more years ahead of us, not to mention lots of walls and hurdles to clear.

"So how? Would you stay on?"

Came the all-too-familiar question that has been posed to me countless times the past year-and-a-half.

To be truthful, I don't really have the answer.

I do like what I am doing but occasional thoughts of "What if I had...?" and "Is this what I really should be doing?" do creep into the recesses of my mind.

That would trigger a series of even more thoughts about the future, and also images of myself doing totally unrelated jobs like freelance writing, teaching Japanese or swimming, translation work etc etc.

Or even hawking soya bean milk and tau huay at your neighbourhood coffee shop. Haha.

That aside, the future is pretty uncertain at this point in time and of whether or not I would really still enjoy what I am doing a couple of years down the road.

It could reach the point that I have become so comfortable in my job that I would crave for a change.

Well, it's good to ponder about things like these once in a while, like when I am running early for meetings or just simply having nothing else better to do.

Just keeping my options wide open.

And my radar in good working order.

Yepz, agree abt the radar. Guess it's hard to decide so early. Things change and your own opinions change. What I can say is, it's most important to do something that you like and are happy with. :)

    Behind you alwaz!! *hugZ*

Yup yup, doing something that we really enjoy is definitely a pre-requisite for happiness and satisfaction in work...hoping that we can reach that stage in the future as we strive to carve out our niches, and in the meantime, strike a fine balance between work and play!

    Ganbarou!! =) *smuuak*
